Say Goodbye to Dry Hair!

April is the month of HAIR! We’ll feature hair stories, products, techniques, and all the hair goodness you can think of.

UPDATE: Please check your e-mail if you entered the Cream of Nature contest. I e-mailed all of the winners last week. There was a slight mix-up with communication, so winner’s packages have not been sent out yet. I’m so sorry! Hopefully they will be on the way very soon!

On to the feature….

Through all of this time being natural, the factor that always makes me want to revert back to relaxing is dry hair. Dry, brittle, crunchy hair is a demon. But, as usual, through various hair boards and blogs, I’ve found the only thing that has ever kept my hair completely soft and bountiful…glycerin spritz!!!! This is a do it yourself type of thing. I had previously been using glycerin alone on my hair, and then added aloe vera gel to make my coils pop. But, I realized that sooo many people had glycerin in their leave-in conditioners and spray bottles for in between washes. So, I took the remainder of my glycerin and put it in a spray bottle, then added water, until it was approx. half of each in the bottle. Viola, instant moist hair. Tonight when I come home, I will throw this on and twist my hear with a bit of shea butter. I’m lovin’ it!!!!

Here is a list over things that are great for your hair

Tatianna

I had the opportunity to interview one of my favorite MAC make-up artists, Tatiana. She is tall, gorgeous and oh, so knowledgeable. She’s worked for MAC for years, and can beat a face with no hesitation. At the counter, it’s no surprise that customers and other artists flock to her for second opinions. I basically harassed her for an interview!!!!

In the one-on-one with Tati, find out the perfect colors that go with your skin tone, the perfect party face, how to make your makeup last, and the hottest trends in makeup for the Spring season. Go on to The MAC Fetish and indulge!!!

The Heatherette Boys!

Y’all know I love to bring you exclusives, right? After all, they don’t call us Scandalous Beauty for nothin’!

During Fall/Winter Fashion Week this January, the little island of Manhattan was causing much of an uproar. Why? Fashion Week, Duh!!! One of the highlights of my week was attending the MAC Pro tour, and getting to see the boys behind Heatherette. Richie and Traver were so down to earth and freakin’ hilarious!

Girls in the audience were swooning, and so were boys in the audience! Richie had on enough beauty powder for 15 women, but the man was fierce anyway! Check out the exclusive story at The MAC Fetish!!!

Thymes Red Cherie

Happy Easter!!!

I guess you all know that Spring is my favorite time of year, it’s perfect weather, everything looks beautiful, and you can bust out the flip-flop’s and spaghetti straps. Thymes Red Cherie is Spring. The scent reminds me of the blossoming flowers that can be found all around.

Thymes says “Sweet, flirty and a little bit unpredictable, Thymes Red Chérie makes you smile from head to toe with a luscious mix of sparkling pomegranate, ripe red cherries, passion flower and jasmine…sparked with Asian lychee and a tease of fruity musk. And, since it’s loaded with skin-loving vitamin E and antioxidants, it leaves you with a healthy glow that’s nothing less than non-stop gorgeous.”

I tried the body lotion, and a little goes a very long way, scent-ly speaking. So, I would highly advise you to pick up the candle, home fragrance mist and sink set, which includes hand wash and lotion in a cute little caddy. This is the perfect way to bring in the Spring season!!!!

Re-Trying Mizani

I’m going to give Mizani haircare another shot. My former stylist used Mizani, and only Mizani, to nurse my hair back to health after a terrible chemical burn from a relaxer. I went to him every two weeks, and my roller wraps would be SO fierce. I really forgot about that hair, ah to be fourteen again. Well no, not really.

Anyway, here are the products that I am going to try.
Botanifying Conditioning Shampoo
Moisturefuse Moisturizing Conditioner
Spradiance High Gloss Serum

I’ll Give you the scoop in April, during the Scandalous Beauty Hair Event!!! Do you use Mizani products?? Which are your favorites? Lemme know!

The "Naturally Gorgeous" Look

Y’all know Kelly Rowland is my muse. The girl has gorgeous, absolutely flawless brown skin. She can wear any hair style and length, and she always has this confidence that takes her to another level. GlamBlush has an article on how to get the “Naturally Gorgeous” look. We have all attempted to wear the look, and India-Jewel tells us how to rock it!

You don’t have to use these products, of course, but this is an excellent road map. She recommends MAC Glimmer Shimmer, which I believe is a seasonal product. I’d would suggest Smashbox Artificial Light in Glow, which adds a slight bronzish shimmer to your moisturizer. I almost always see her in matte foundation, and this slight shimmer gives her an extra boost.

Also, Kelly is always in Eyeliner, crisp and jet black. My favorite eye-liner of all time, that gives you a thick or thin line, sharp or smudged is MAC Blacktrack Fluidline! Try it with the 266 brush, it works wonders!

"Hair Trauma" by Ellin LaVar

Celebrity Hair Stylist Ellin LaVar has a reality TV show, did y’all know?!? She’s styles Mary, Naomi, Angela, Venus, Serena, Oprah…the list never ends. I reviewed a few of her products (available exclusively at CVS) last year, and I think I will give them another shot. I love shows like this, where everyone is REAL. Ellin owns the salon and runs it with her sister and brother. The particular episode that I saw, Ellin and Misa (Diddy’s first baby-mama) put on a fashion show revealing Misa’s newest designs. The show was hilarious, and I will definitely watch more often!

Check out her Q&A session on AOL Black Voices, and video clips on AOL!

Victoria Beckham: That Extra Half and Inch

Have any of you read this book??? I cannot get enough of this it! If you don’t know about the UK bestseller, allow me to re-introduce you to That Extra Half an Inch by Victoria Beckham. I am sort of a posh groupie. She is one of my style inspirations. I mean, the woman is the epitome of bad. She goes through any style category that you can think of, and gets specific with brands, colors, fit, etc. My BFF Miriam called me the other day and said “Erin, I need you to go get the Victoria Beckham book and turn to page 151!! I LOVE IT!” When you see the picture, you’ll know what she means!!! You will all get to meet Miriam when she coordinates the first Scandalous Beauty event in New York City! Be ready to attend!

Normally when I go to a bookstore and see something that looks like a must have, I write the name down and scuttle to my laptop to get the best deal on Amazon.com! But…this book was so fabulous, I had to buy it at that moment.

There are hundreds of glossy pictures to look at and “study”, if you will. For a girl like me, this book is an inspiration. Scandalous Beauty is all about being fabulous, and this book just beams fabulous.

By the way, Amazon is one of my favorite places on the web. There are a kabillion books, cd’s, dvd’s, etc. I love the guides, the recommendations, and the wish lists! I love being able to save the books that I want, and to keep track of what I already have. Wanna take a peek at my wishlist?

Whitney and Bobbi!!!

Well at least we hope so. While I was perusing AOL Black Voices, I saw this gorgeous picture of Whitney, looking healthy and possibly happy. Jawn Murray explains her past and more recent indevers and her future projects… she is scheduled for a November album release! Let’s hope it’s not too add-libby and she does minimal straining. Her makeup in the picture to the left is polished and classic, she wears is well!! I am really loving the lighter lid colors lately, as we are in that transition time between Spring and Winter.

For this Look, I would highly suggest colors from the Bobbi Brown Nude Collection. “Sleek palette includes all-new nude shimmer and matte shadows, four nude Lip Colors, a mini dual-ended Eye Shadow/Eyeliner Brush and Lip Brush with a protective cap.”
