Don’t Spend A Ton…

Why spend on pricey cosmetics when you can shop without being hassled at your local pharmacy or supermarket? I am a big advocate in the “you get what you pay for” theory. But a bargain is never a bad thing. Here are a few categories were being frugal are a benefit.

Lipgloss-I have L’Oreal glosses that are just as pretty as my Nars. Shop around, you would be surprised at how many department store knock-offs you can find!

Mascara-Every great celebrity makeup artist out there is a fan of two mascaras, L’Oreal Voluminous and Maybelline Great Lash. Need I say more?

Eye Shadows-If you use the right base, you can make virtually any eyeshadow pop. Milani makes an awesome selection of colors, as well as the cheapest. They even sell eye shadow quads and sets so that you can make a quick selection! I’ll be doing an exclusive story on Milani soon!

Check out Yummy411’s post about the new drugstore collections!!! It’s an awesome post, I think I’m going to run to CVS to see it all!!! What are the drugstore products that you can’t live without???

L’Oreal HIP….revisited!

I decided to take a trip to the drugstore and play with the H.I.P. line. High Intensity Pigment is just what is needed to give life to less expensive lines. After all, this is what really determines the difference in where the product is sold. I like the glosses and the eyeshadows the most out of the collection. The shadows are highly colorful, and they are actually visable on your skin! I ALWAYS prep my eye with M.A.C. Paints and Studio Finish Concealer, and these shadows on top are a great way to go. The colors come in duos, each of which compliment each other. Mix and match or wear one color alone.

On to the lips. The glosses have color and don’t just stain the lip or give barely there color. I plan to use these glosses on models because they actually do what they are supposed to! They aren’t sticky and come in a great variety of colors. If any of you are makeup artists and you are trying to stock your kit, take advantage of this line. You get quality for a small fee. Having a balance of lesser expensive and department store cosmetics is something that should be considered.

As far as the other products, I’m not too crazy about them. They all get the job done, but not enough for me to boast about them.

Milani Cosmetics

For all of you drug store junkies or bargain shoppers, be aware that there is a high end knock off brand out there. Milani cosmetics is a highly pigmented line found at most drugstores including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Duane Reade, etc. I heard talk about the brand, so I figured I would give them a try. The eyeshadows remind me ALOT of MAC, soft and rich in color. I take these out with me during the day because they are so small and convenient to carry. If I worked for MAC(oh please, please Lord grant me the honor of working for MAC)and I wore Milani shadows during my shift, nobody would have a clue. The glosses aren’t my favorite, but I am very picky about lipglosses, but many people do like them. I have heard they were thin and wore off easily. The blushes are great considering they are so inexpensive, I am picky about blush as well, but they worked out great. I won’t be trying their foundations because I haven’t heard anything good about them. My suggestion, get some L’Oreal or Maybelline foundation. So, I haven’t bought one of everything, but I can tell you one thing, MILANI IS A WINNDER!
